Doorway page
Definition. A doorway page exists mainly to capture a search query and funnel visitors somewhere else, adding nothing itself. The classic pattern is dozens of near-identical location pages with the town name swapped. Google's spam policies name doorways explicitly.
The test is whether the page would exist if search engines did not. If its only purpose is to catch a query and redirect attention, it is a doorway.
Legitimate location pages differ: distinct services, staff, hours, photos, reviews and local content. The difference is substance, not word count.
