Six questions about your goal, budget, platform and appetite for automation, matched against 30 tools and their published capabilities.

How to use it
- Answer honestly about involvement This is the question that most changes the answer. People who say hands-off and then want to approve every draft end up unhappy with an autopilot and should buy an optimizer instead.
- Set the budget you would actually approve Not the aspirational one. The matcher penalises tools above your ceiling rather than hiding them, so you will still see near-misses.
- Read the match reasons Each result explains which of your answers it matched. If the reason is thin, the fit is thin.
- Then read the reviews and run the trials A shortlist is a starting point. Every tool here has a full review with pricing tiers and limits, and most have a free trial.
How the numbers work
Everything here runs in JavaScript in your browser. No input is sent anywhere, nothing is stored, and there is no account, no email gate and no export limit. The maths is deliberately simple so you can check it: where a benchmark is used, the source is named on the page rather than hidden behind a "based on industry data" claim.
Where this calculator uses published research, it uses these: the position-CTR meta-analysis from First Page Sage (updated May 2025), the 34.5% AI Overview click reduction measured by Ahrefs across 300,000 keywords, and Pew Research Center's click-behaviour study. Tool prices come from vendor pricing pages read on 2 August 2026. All of them are averages, and averages are a starting point, not a forecast: your own Search Console data beats every benchmark on this page.
Frequently asked questions
How does the tool finder decide?
It scores all 30 tools against your answers using published capability data, category fit, price against your ceiling, AI-search support, CMS integrations and audience fit. It is a transparent weighting, not a black box, and there are no paid placements.
Why does it recommend Sorank often?
Because Sorank matches the most common answer set here: hands-off publishing, under $150, with AI-search visibility. When your answers point elsewhere, so does the shortlist. This site is published by the company behind Sorank, which is disclosed everywhere Sorank appears and explained in the methodology.
Can I get a shortlist for more than one goal?
Run it twice. Teams that need two jobs done usually end up with a two-tool stack, and you can price that in the stack cost calculator.
