Topical authority
Definition. Topical authority is the degree to which a site is treated as a comprehensive source on a subject, built by covering a topic completely and connecting those pages to each other rather than by publishing isolated posts on unrelated subjects.
The mechanism is hub and spoke: a pillar page defining the topic, spoke pages each covering one distinct angle, and internal links binding them together.
One angle per page is the discipline that makes it work. Two pages covering the same intent compete with each other and split the signals that would otherwise accumulate on one.
Retrieval systems reward the same structure for a different reason: complete coverage means there is a self-contained passage answering almost any question in the topic.
