Content score

Definition. A content score is a number produced by an optimization tool measuring how closely your draft resembles the pages already ranking for a query, based on shared terms, entities and structure. It is a useful floor and a terrible ceiling.

The score measures similarity, not quality. Pushing it to 100 by inserting terms produces text that reads badly to humans and to the systems that quote passages.

The genuinely useful part is the list of subtopics you have not covered, which is a coverage checklist rather than a target.

Different vendors score the same draft differently, because each builds its corpus and weighting differently. Scores are not comparable across tools.
