Search volume

Definition. Search volume is the estimated number of monthly searches for a query. Every figure you see is a modelled estimate, not a measurement, and estimates differ substantially between tools for the same keyword.

Volumes are usually twelve-month averages, which hides seasonality entirely. A term that peaks in November and disappears in June shows the same average as a steady one.

Zero-volume keywords are not worthless. Many convert well, and long-tail questions with no recorded volume are exactly the sort AI assistants get asked.
