nofollow

Definition. nofollow is a link attribute telling search engines not to pass ranking credit through that link. Google now treats it as a hint rather than a directive, alongside the more specific rel=sponsored and rel=ugc values.

Paid or sponsored links must be marked sponsored or nofollow. Failing to do so is a link-scheme violation, whatever the commercial arrangement is called.
